Beschrijving voorzijde Unadorned bust of King Carl XVI Gustaf in left profile, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail. The legend CARL XVI Gustaf arcs across the upper field, while SVERIGES KONUNG curves along the lower periphery. The engraver's initials EN appear in small incuse letters beneath the truncation of the neck. The field is deeply mirrored, contrasting with the finely frosted effigy in the manner of a proof or specimen strike.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is divided into two distinct compositional zones: at left, a detailed architectural rendering of Kalmar Castle, with the engraver's initials EB (Eskilstuna Bäckström) incused below; at right, a crowned bust of Queen Margareta I of the Kalmar Union in left profile, depicted in a medieval heraldic style. Along the lower portion of the field, the commemorative dates 1397 and 1997 flank the denomination 200 KR, marking the 600th anniversary of the Kalmar Union. The legend MARGARETA KALMAR UNIONEN arcs across the upper field.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the 600th anniversary of the Kalmar Union, the political arrangement formed in 1397 under which Denmark, Norway, and Sweden were united under a single crown — initially that of Erik of Pomerania. The union lasted, fitfully, until Gustav Vasa's break from Denmark in 1523, a dissolution that ultimately gave Sweden its modern national identity.

Myntverket struck this as a commemorative circulation issue, one of several large-format silver kronor produced under Carl XVI Gustaf during the 1990s for the collector market.
