| Opis awersu | The central field displays the national coat of arms of Benin, featuring a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant on either side. This is one of several Beninese issues from the early 1990s struck explicitly for the European collector market rather than domestic circulation — Benin's CFA currency was never independently minted for everyday use, the actual circulating coinage being a shared BCEAO issue.
