| Beschrijving voorzijde | The central field displays the national coat of arms of Benin, featuring a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant on either side. The upper quarters of the shield bear a castle and a star respectively, while the lower quarters depict a palm tree and a sailing vessel. This is one of several Beninese issues from the early 1990s struck explicitly for the European collector market rather than domestic circulation — Benin's CFA currency was never independently minted for everyday use, the actual circulating coinage being a shared BCEAO issue. The "Preussen" denomination places this in a series commemorating historical German states, a subject with no meaningful connection to Benin, chosen entirely for its sales appeal to German-speaking collectors.
