| 裏面の説明 | The reverse depicts a waving Greek national flag rendered in high relief, with the nine horizontal stripes and the white cross on the canton reproduced in fine detail using a textured matte finish contrasting against the polished field. The date '1978' — the year the contemporary flag design was formally adopted — is inscribed in the upper field above the flag. The year of issue '2021' appears in the lower central field beneath the flag. An olive branch garland, a classical Greek motif symbolising peace and glory, frames the lower portion of the design. The engraver's monogram is visible in the lower left area of the field. |

Issued to mark the bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence, which began in 1821 when Greek revolutionary forces rose against Ottoman rule. The 200-year commemoration prompted an unusually broad Greek state minting program in 2021, spanning multiple denominations and themes across both gold and silver issues.
The flag itself has a contested early history — the exact sequence of designs adopted by various revolutionary factions between 1821 and the eventual standardization remains disputed among vexillologists and Greek historians alike.
