A menacing British leopard recoils at left, repelled by the goddess's intervention. The exergue and field bear the dates 17 19 OCT . 1777. and 1781., along with the engraver's signature DUPRÉ F and the issuer's mark RF 2023. The encircling legend, drawn from Horace's Odes, Book III, reads NON SINE DIIS ANIMOSUS INFANS. |
