200 Escudos Selvagens islands

The Selvagens — a tiny Portuguese archipelago roughly midway between Madeira and the Canary Islands — have been the subject of a prolonged territorial dispute with Spain, whose government has periodically argued they fall within the natural extension of the Canary platform. Portugal has maintained continuous administration and garrisoned a small nature reserve station there since the 1970s. Issues commemorating the group are rare; most collectors encounter the Selvagens only as a footnote in Madeiran administrative history.
