| 背面描述 | A Portuguese carrack sails to the left toward the island of Mozambique, commemorating Vasco da Gama's arrival on 2 March 1498 during the first Portuguese voyage to India. To the left, a traditional native sailing vessel (dhow) is depicted on the open sea. The legend MOCAMBIQUE and the engraver's signature E.BYRNE along with the mint mark INCM appear in the field, while the arrival date 2 DE MARCO 1498 is inscribed in the lower portion of the reverse. The design is executed in a detailed, historically evocative style characteristic of the Portuguese Discoveries commemorative series. |
