This piece replicates the iconic American Peace Dollar design, which the RCM has licensed for adaptation, a legally complex arrangement given that original U.S. Mint designs carry intellectual property considerations that took considerable negotiation to resolve.
The Peace Dollar original was itself born of congressional mandate in 1921, requiring a design change to commemorate the end of WWI.
