| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse presents a reinterpretation of the classic Peace Dollar design, featuring a left-facing female effigy symbolising Peace, her hair elaborately adorned with an olive wreath rendered in fine detail. The word PAX appears prominently in the left field, referencing both the Latin word for peace and the iconography of the original American Peace Dollar. The legend A MARI USQUE AD MARE arcs along the upper rim, reading 'From sea to sea', the Canadian national motto. The date 2020 is inscribed within a cartouche or panel at the lower right, and the engraver's initials ST appear discreetly near the base of the design. The composition is executed in high relief against a reflective field, emphasising the sculptural quality of the Peace allegory. |

The Royal Canadian Mint's five-nines gold program is one of the few anywhere that holds to .99999 fineness as a production standard rather than a marketing exception — a refinement level that creates measurable handling challenges, as the metal is soft enough that even minor contact leaves traceable marks. This piece replicates the iconic American Peace Dollar design, which the RCM has licensed for adaptation, a legally complex arrangement given that original U.S. Mint designs carry intellectual property considerations that took considerable negotiation to resolve.
The Peace Dollar original was itself born of congressional mandate in 1921, requiring a design change to commemorate the end of WWI.
