Beschrijving keerzijde High-relief depiction of a kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) perched alertly on a eucalyptus branch, its head turned slightly to face the viewer with characteristic upright posture. The plumage is rendered in exceptional sculptural detail, showcasing the bird's distinctive brown-streaked body and prominent beak. Leafy eucalyptus sprigs with berries extend along the branch in the lower field, and the engraver's initials 'AH' appear on the branch to the left. The 'P' mintmark for the Perth Mint is positioned to the right within the inner circle. The legend 'AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA' arcs along the upper periphery, while the inscription '2021 2oz 9999 GOLD' is placed in the lower exergue.

Aanvullende informatie

The Kookaburra gold series occupies an unusual position in the Australian bullion market — unlike the Kangaroo series issued under the Royal Australian Mint's federal mandate, the Perth Mint produces these under a Western Australian government guarantee, a jurisdictional distinction that occasionally confuses newer collectors. The kookaburra design changes annually, a deliberate policy introduced to discourage melting and stimulate collector demand alongside the standard bullion buyer.

The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint beginning with 2015-dated issues.
