| Beschrijving keerzijde | A right-facing portrait bust of Norwegian explorer and humanitarian Fridtjof Nansen dominates the central field, depicted in fine relief with characteristic mustache and period attire. To the lower left of the portrait, a small circular emblem featuring a torch or lamp device appears as a secondary design element. The legend 'PEACE FOR THE WORLD' arcs prominently along the upper periphery, while 'FRIDTJOF NANSEN' is inscribed to the left of the portrait. The reverse weight and fineness inscription '1/2 G .999 FINE GOLD' appears along the upper field, and the denomination '200 DALASIS' is placed at the lower right, with decorative dot stops flanking it along the border. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Fridtjof Nansen crossed the Greenland ice sheet in 1888 and later came within 272 miles of the North Pole — a record at the time — but his greatest achievement may have been administrative. As League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees after World War I, he created the Nansen passport, a internationally recognized travel document that allowed stateless persons to cross borders at a time when most had no legal identity whatsoever. Over 450,000 were eventually issued.
The Gambia has no geographic or historical connection to Nansen; this is a bullion-adjacent commemorative produced for the collector market, a common revenue strategy for small nations with nominal minting programs.
