| 表面の説明 | Yellow-ochre guilloche underprint with an oval lozenge lattice pattern frames the note on all sides. The denomination "200 Millionen Mark" is printed in large Gothic (Fraktur) script in dark red at centre, with the issuing authority "Notgeld der Stadt Sterkrade" inscribed at the top. Below the denomination, a block of text sets out the conditions of validity dated Sterkrade (Rhld.), den 20. August 1923, followed by the title "Der Oberbürgermeister" and a manuscript facsimile signature; a small municipal arms vignette appears at lower left, and the serial number and series letter are printed vertically along the right margin. |

Sterkrade was an independent industrial city in the Ruhr when this note was issued — it merged into the newly created city of Oberhausen just two months after the hyperinflationary peak of late 1923, meaning the Stadt Sterkrade as an issuing authority effectively ceased to exist almost immediately after producing notes of this denomination. The 200 Million Mark figure, staggering by any earlier standard, was already losing relevance by the week during August–September 1923, when wholesale prices were doubling roughly every few days.
Notgeld of this magnitude was purely functional stopgap currency, printed to meet payroll in the coal and steel industries that dominated the region.
