Reverse description The reverse, also framed by the stamp-form perforated border, presents portrait busts of three defenders of the Polish Post Office in Gdańsk: JAN MICHOŃ at left, and ALFONS FLISYKOWSKI and KONRAD GUDERSKI at centre-right, their names inscribed beneath their respective likenesses. In the central field, an engraved facsimile of a Polish postal cancellation stamp bears the date -1 IX 39 08 and the inscription POLSKI URZĄD - T - GDAŃSK 1, evoking the historic postmark of 1 September 1939. The architectural façade of the post office with the inscription POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWO-TELEGRAFICZNY appears in the background. The lower legend reads OBRONA POCZTY POLSKIEJ W GDAŃSKU, and the upper field bears the inscription AGRESJA NIEMIEC NA POLSKĘ.
