The central vignette, executed in intaglio on an olive-green ground, presents workers retting and washing jute stalks in a river, a scene emblematic of Bangladesh's principal agricultural industry; three figures are shown standing in shallow water manipulating the fibre while a boat and further workers are visible in the mid-ground. The Bangladesh Bank seal appears in a circular cartouche to the left, and the denomination numeral '20' is repeated in each corner within ornamental geometric borders. The inscriptions 'TWENTY TAKA' and 'BANGLADESH BANK' appear in the lower portion of the design. |
