Mantua passed to Habsburg control in 1707 following the War of the Spanish Succession, and by the 1750s the duchy's coinage had been thoroughly absorbed into Maria Theresia's centralizing monetary reforms — though Mantua retained nominal issuing authority as a courtesy to regional administration rather than any genuine fiscal autonomy.
