| Descrizione del dritto | The nickel brass centre features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted in raised relief atop its circular abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel). Three lions are visible facing outward, rendered in fine detail, with the fourth implied behind. The Devanagari state motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in the field below the capital within the inner disc. The legends 'भारत' in Devanagari script and 'INDIA' in Latin script are placed on the outer nickel silver ring to the left and right respectively. |

Issued to mark India's 75th independence anniversary, this coin is part of the broader "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" initiative launched by the central government in 2021 — a multi-year commemoration running through August 2023. The ₹20 denomination itself was introduced only in 2019, making this a relatively young face value in Indian coinage history. Bimetallic circulation issues at this denomination remain unfamiliar to much of the public, and hoarding on release was widely reported across major cities.
