Obverse description The nickel brass centre features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted in raised relief atop its circular abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel). Three lions are visible facing outward, rendered in fine detail, with the fourth implied behind. The Devanagari state motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in the field below the capital within the inner disc. The legends 'भारत' in Devanagari script and 'INDIA' in Latin script are placed on the outer nickel silver ring to the left and right respectively.

Reverse description The nickel brass centre displays the official 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' commemorative logo, consisting of a large stylised numeral '75' integrated with a waving tricolour flag bearing the Ashoka Chakra, all set against a rising sun motif. Below the logo, the inscription 'आज़ादी का अमृत महोत्सव' appears in Devanagari script in two lines, and the denomination '₹20' is prominently displayed in the lower field using the Rupee symbol combined with Arabic numerals. The legend '75TH YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE' curves along the upper periphery of the outer nickel silver ring, with the mint year '2022' and mint mark appearing to the lower left of the central design.
