| Obverse description | Central field displays the denomination within a wreath of laurel branches, encircled by the imperial legend. Superimposed upon this design is a circular countermark bearing the numeral '20' set against a horizontally lined background, applied by authority of the Brazilian Empire to revalue the host coin. The countermark is boldly struck and clearly delineated from the underlying original design. The overall composition reflects the revaluation coinage policy of the Pedro II era. |

| Reverse description | A crowned oval shield bearing a terrestrial globe is centered in the field, flanked on both sides by elaborate branches — an oak branch to the left and a coffee branch to the right — tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The imperial crown surmounts the shield, rendered in fine detail with arched bands and orb finial. The encircling legend IN HOC SIGNO VINCES runs along the upper periphery in Roman capitals. The composition follows the standard armorial style of the Brazilian Empire under Pedro II. |
