Opmerkingen

The "Ang Bagong Lipunan" inscription — meaning "The New Society" — was Marcos's programmatic label for the authoritarian order declared under martial law in September 1972. Its placement on circulating currency was deliberate political branding, embedding the regime's ideology directly into everyday transactions. The series ran through several seal type variants as the Bangko Sentral updated its official insignia during the martial law period, making seal type a primary dating tool for collectors working within this issue.

Thomas De La Rue's involvement guaranteed consistent intaglio quality throughout the print run, though Filipino-printed successors to this series show noticeably different ink depth.
