| Obverse description | Plain light-grey paper note with a decorative guilloche underprint of circular rosette medallions at each corner and along the borders. The central text, set in Gothic blackletter script, states the note's purpose as a tramway fare token, with the denomination 'Zwanzig Pfennig' in large display type. Below the denomination text appears the date 'Breslau, den 12. Juli 1920', the issuing authority 'Verwaltung der städt. Breslau's municipal tramway administration issued these small-denomination notes during the acute coin shortage that gripped German cities in 1920 — a notgeld problem that hit transit operators particularly hard, since exact-fare systems depended entirely on small change that had effectively vanished from circulation. Grass, Barth & Comp., the long-established Breslau printing house operating under the W. Friedrich imprint, produced the note locally. Bleyberg's single signature appears without title, which was typical for tramway-issued scrip rather than municipal treasury paper.
