| Obverse description | Unadorned effigy of King Nicholas I facing left, with a small laurel sprig behind the head, rendered in high relief with fine portraiture detail. A Cyrillic legend curves around the upper periphery identifying the monarch as King and Ruler of Montenegro. The dates 1860–1910, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of his reign, appear in the lower field flanked by six-pointed stars. The engraver's initials SS are visible in the lower field near the truncation. The overall design is austere and dignified, reflecting the medallic tradition of the period. |
