| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large intaglio vignette of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (HZMB), its cable-stayed pylons rising dramatically over the Pearl River Delta waters, with a faint panorama of Macau's historic skyline in the underprint to the right. A lotus blossom emblem appears at lower centre-right, and the denomination numeral '20' is printed in blue at lower right. Bilingual date and regulatory inscriptions in Chinese and Portuguese are arranged vertically at left. |

Banco Nacional Ultramarino's continued role as one of Macau's two note-issuing banks into the twenty-first century is itself a historical oddity — the institution dates to 1864 and was originally a Portuguese colonial instrument, yet survived the 1999 handover and operates today under the authority of the Macau Monetary Authority alongside the Bank of China. This commemorative issue marks two decades under the "one country, two systems" arrangement, which guaranteed Macau's separate monetary and legal framework through 2049.
Giesecke & Devrient's Leipzig facility has handled BNU Macau production for decades. The security package on this note is notably sparse for a commemorative — watermark only, which is unusual given G&D's full capability roster.
