| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of Emperor Justinian I, helmeted and cuirassed, depicted in a rigid, frontal Byzantine hieratic style. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand and a decorated shield is visible at his left shoulder. The bust is rendered in low relief with stylized facial features characteristic of mid-sixth century provincial Byzantine coinage. The surrounding field carries the imperial Latin legend. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered issues from the Numidian mint at Constantine. |
