Turkmenistan's 2020 note series was issued under the presidency of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow as part of a broader redenomination program that replaced the old manat at a rate of 5,000 to 1 — though that reform itself dates to 2009, and by 2020 the series was simply being refreshed and extended rather than introduced for the first time.
