The countermark authenticates and revalues the host piece for circulation in Guadeloupe. Depending on the host coin type, the underlying design corresponds either to KM#172.2 (type 4.1, host years 1751–1777) or KM#199.2 (type 4.2, host years 1777–1786). The countermark is applied in the field, partially overlapping the original host coin's design elements. |
