Reverse description An intaglio portrait of Giorgio Borg Olivier (1911–1980), Prime Minister of Malta at independence, is positioned at centre-left, shown raising a document aloft against a detailed guilloche background with floral rosette motifs. To the right, a framed commemorative inscription in Maltese records the independence proclamation of 21 September 1964, flanked by doves in flight. The denomination "Lm20" and "GĦOXRIN LIRA" appear at lower left and centre respectively, with the bank title at top.
