Obverse description The obverse features an elaborate and densely composed central floral arabesque design, consisting of symmetrical scrolling acanthus-style foliage radiating outward from a central rosette, rendered in high relief against a flat field. The ornamental motif is enclosed within the circular flan with no border beading. The peripheral legend reads LAMBETH LONDON along the upper arc and 1851 along the lower arc, all in raised Latin capital letters. The design reflects the decorative engraving style characteristic of mid-19th century British die-makers, intended to demonstrate technical minting capability to a prospective Ottoman client.
