At the centre of the design sits a raised heart, surrounded by a radiating pattern of eight foliate sprigs alternating with eight pairs of scissors rendered in a stylised, folkloristic manner, all set against a finely crosshatched background field. The dates 1940 and 2020, flanking the upper portion of the central design, commemorate the queen's birth year and the 80th anniversary.
