The circular Latin legend surrounding the design reads F·I·S·SAXO·E·S·P·ET·COM·REIP·VAL, identifying Bishop Franz Joseph Supersaxo as Prince-Bishop and Count of the Republic of Valais. |

The date 1709 appears in the upper left field within the circular Latin legend SUB TVVM PRAESIDIVM, an invocation to the protection of the Virgin. The composition is rendered in high relief with fine baroque detailing, reflecting the engraving style associated with the Hedlinger workshop. |
