| Obverse description | Ornate oval quartered shield of arms surmounted by an episcopal mitre, with a crozier and a crescent visible above and to the right of the mitre. The quartered arms display the heraldic devices of the Bishopric of Sion and the Supersaxo family, including crowns, lions, and rows of triangles. The shield is set within a decorative cartouche with foliate scrollwork. The circular Latin legend surrounding the design reads F·I·S·SAXO·E·S·P·ET·COM·REIP·VAL, identifying Bishop Franz Joseph Supersaxo as Prince-Bishop and Count of the Republic of Valais. |

| Reverse description | A seated figure of the Virgin Mary, crowned and nimbed with stars, enthroned upon clouds above a shield bearing the starred arms of the Virgin of Sion, the shield flanked by the denomination numerals CR and 20. The date 1709 appears in the upper left field within the circular Latin legend SUB TVVM PRAESIDIVM, an invocation to the protection of the Virgin. The composition is rendered in high relief with fine baroque detailing, reflecting the engraving style associated with the Hedlinger workshop. |
