The hair is elaborately dressed and adorned with pearl ornaments, and an imperial mantle with a decorative brooch is visible at the décolletage. A clockwise Cyrillic legend surrounds the effigy, reading Б∙М∙ЕКАТЕРИНА∙II∙ІМП∙IСАМОД∙ВСЕРОС, translating as 'By the Grace of God, Ekaterina II, Empress and Autocrat of All Russia.' The mint mark СПБ (Saint Petersburg Mint) appears in the exergue below the truncation. |
