Papua New Guinea adopted polymer for its kina series earlier than most Pacific nations, and Note Printing Australia has been the sole supplier since the late 1990s. The reduced-format 20 Kina was introduced in 2021 as part of a broader move toward smaller, more ergonomic notes across the kina series — a practical response to years of complaints about wallet fit in a currency zone where cash handling is intense and ATM tolerance is tight.
P#50 is recent enough that genuine circulation data is still thin. What's already apparent is that the OVD placement on this format differs from earlier full-size issues in the series.
