Reverse description The reverse is printed in dark brown on an uncoloured paper ground and centres on a large heraldic vignette of the Wilhelmsburg municipal coat of arms: a fortified tower with an arched gateway set within an ornate cartouche of scrolling acanthus and baroque flourishes. The shield occupies nearly the full face of the note, with show-through impressions of the obverse text faintly visible at left due to the thin paper stock.

Wilhelmsburg an der Traisen is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 20 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld emergency that swept Austrian municipalities after the collapse of the Habsburg economy in 1918. With the central government unable to maintain adequate coin supply, thousands of communities printed their own small-denomination paper to keep local trade moving. Gutenberg in nearby St. Pölten was the obvious choice for a Marktgemeinde of this size — a short contract job, not a prestige commission.

The JPR1235a designation places this within the Jaksc cataloguing of Lower Austrian municipal issues, a dense and still incompletely documented series.
