| Opmerkingen |
Spitz an der Donau was one of hundreds of Austrian market towns that issued Notgeld during the prolonged small-coin shortage that followed the First World War. The Wachau series from this region attracted particular attention among collectors almost immediately upon issue — local councils were aware of the demand and some printings were made in quantities exceeding genuine monetary need.
Eduard Sieger of Vienna handled the printing, while the design came from a painter identified in the records only as Graysgruber, based in nearby Stein an der Donau. The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR1122.10IIa places this among the documented Spitz issues, with the "IIa" suffix indicating a specific paper or printing variant within the sequence.
