| 裏面の説明 | Printed in dark brown on cream paper, the reverse is dominated by a large panoramic line-engraved vignette of the town of Pöchlarn viewed from across the Danube, captioned 'Pechlarn' within the scene and signed 'Thouau ft.' at lower centre. A decorated heraldic cartouche with a standing figure occupies the upper centre, flanked by two scrolling banners bearing a Middle High German verse from the Nibelungenlied. Denomination numerals '20' are set within circular oak-wreath cartouches at lower left and right, and the guarantee text in Gothic script runs across the full bottom margin. |

Pöchlarn is a small Danube market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities in the years immediately after the First World War, it was forced to print its own emergency small change — Notgeld — to compensate for a near-total absence of metal coinage. The collapse of the Habsburg monetary system had left everyday transactions impossible at the lowest denominations, and local governments filled the gap themselves.
The engraver credit to Seliger is worth noting. Austrian municipal Notgeld of this period was often farmed out to local print shops with no design pedigree, which makes a named engraver slightly unusual at this scale.
