The right panel bears the large Gothic-script inscription 'Gutschein der Stadtgemeinde Pöchlarn' with a watermark-style '20' underprint, the validity clause 'Nur gültig bis 31. Dezember 1920', and two facsimile manuscript signatures below the titles of Vizebürgermeister and Bürgermeister. Pöchlarn is a small town on the Danube in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities in the early 1920s, it issued its own Notgeld when the postwar coinage shortage made small-change transactions nearly impossible.
