| Obverse description | Printed in violet on cream paper, the obverse carries the issuer's name MISTELBACH in large bold lettering across the top, above the validity inscription GILTIG BIS 31. DEZEMBER 1920 repeated along the upper and lower margins. A central vignette presents a finely engraved landscape with a wayside shrine or chapel column amid trees and foliage. Denomination numerals '20' appear in framed cartouches at upper left and right, while vertical side panels carry the anti-counterfeiting warning text; lower left and right corners bear signature boxes for the Vize-Bürgermeister and Bürgermeister respectively. |

Mistelbach's Heller notes belong to the enormous wave of Austrian municipal Notgeld produced during and after the First World War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage forced hundreds of towns to print their own emergency scrip. The Stadtgemeinde Mistelbach, a market town in Lower Austria north of Vienna, issued these locally rather than relying on the central authority — a practical response to a genuine coin shortage, not a political statement.
The JPR0614a series is among the more straightforward Lower Austrian municipal issues, with no documented printing errors or overprints of note. Collectors assembling complete regional Notgeld sets find these Mistelbach pieces consistently harder to locate than the volume of original printing would suggest.
