Kronstorf is a small village in Upper Austria, and this 20 Heller notgeld was issued during the chaotic monetary aftermath of the Habsburg collapse — a period when the new Austrian state lacked the infrastructure to supply small change reliably, forcing municipalities down to village level to print their own emergency fractions. Buchdruckerei Enns was a local commercial printer in the nearby market town of Enns, the kind of job-shop operation that produced hundreds of these township issues across Upper Austria in 1920.
