| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in green and yellow tones and carries a central rectangular vignette of a rural scene with a horse and handler before a farmstead, enclosed within a decorative guilloche border with foliate and botanical motifs. The denomination "20" appears in a cartouche at the top centre, flanked by "heller" on scroll banners to either side, with the value "20 Zwanzig Heller" repeated in the lower corners. The issuing authority, Gutschein der Gemeinde Aigen, Ober Steiermark, is inscribed in Gothic script within a shaded panel at the foot. |

Austrian municipal notgeld from the post-WWI emergency period, when the central government's inability to supply sufficient small-change coinage forced hundreds of towns and villages to print their own. Aigen in Upper Styria was one of the smaller communities to do so — its 20 Heller issue of 1920 falls within the later wave of notgeld production, by which point the practice had become administratively normalized if not officially sanctioned.
Small-denomination municipal paper from minor Styrian communes survives in surprisingly uneven quantities; local redemption drives in the early 1920s destroyed many issues almost completely.
