Für die Rückzahlung der Anleihe nebst Aufgeld haftet die Stadt Cham mit ihrem Vermögen, mit ihren Einkünften und ihrer Steuerkraft, sowie der Maristen-Fürsorge- und Missionsverein Furth bei Landshut (e.V.) Die Rückzahlung der Anleihe einschliesslich Zinsen erfolgt in Reichswährung zu dem Durchschnitte der amtlichen Berliner Notierung für Auszahlung London für den der Zahlung vorausgehenden Monat. Der Anspruch auf Rückzahlung der Anleihe samt Aufgeld erlischt, wenn die Bescheinigung nicht binnen zwei Jahren nach dem Fälligkeitstage zur Einlösung kommt. Cham i. Bayern, 18. Dezember 1923. Cham issued this Goldmark-denominated emergency bond during the catastrophic hyperinflation of 1923, when municipalities across Germany were printing their own quasi-currency to keep local commerce functioning. Denominating it in Goldmark rather than Papiermark was a deliberate hedge — by late 1923 the Papiermark was essentially worthless, and issuers had learned that any obligation expressed in inflated currency would be repudiated on redemption as a rounding error.
Josef Wein's print shop produced it locally, which accounts for the modest production values. The watermarked stock is notable for a small-town emergency issue — most comparable Notgeld from minor Bavarian municipalities dispensed with security paper entirely.
