| Obverse description | The obverse features a prominent cluster of flowering hibiscus blossoms with broad petals and detailed foliage occupying the central field, rendered in high relief. The circular legend FAMOAHAMBOLAN' NY REPOBLIKA MALAGASY arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1970 appears in the lower field flanked by two small ornamental stars. The design is the work of engraver B. Ramjato and reflects a naturalistic botanical style characteristic of Malagasy commemorative coinage of the period. |
