| Additional information |
Struck to commemorate the 1953 marriage of Crown Princess Charlotte's son, Prince Jean, to Princess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium, this is effectively Luxembourg's only gold commemorative issue of the postwar twentieth century. The mintage was extremely limited and the pieces were never intended for circulation — distribution was largely ceremonial, directed toward officials and dignitaries rather than the public market. The Delmonte classification reflects its status as an extraordinary issue outside the regular series.
