Opmerkingen

Issued during the chaotic weeks of the Hungarian Soviet Republic in 1919, this 20 Filler note is one of several low-denomination emergency pieces put out by the Központi Sajtóvállalat — the Central Press Company — a state printing enterprise pressed into currency production when the collapsing economy demanded small change faster than conventional banking channels could supply it. The Soviet Republic lasted only 133 days before Admiral Horthy's forces took control in August 1919, leaving enormous quantities of these notes unredeemed.

The Adamo MSZK series encompasses the full range of these improvised issues, and the BUC-140 designation places this among the Budapest municipal emergency money rather than national bank output.
