| Obverse description | The obverse features a large right-facing portrait bust of the Christian Roman Emperor Gratianus in low relief, rendered in a late-antique style with elaborately braided hair adorned with pearl decorations and a draped paludamentum. To the right of the emperor's effigy stands a full-length figure of St. Florian in Roman military attire, holding a spear and shield with stylized waves at his feet, referencing his martyrdom by drowning. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs across the upper field, flanked by the inscription HL. FLORIAN, while KAISER GRATIANUS appears vertically along the left border. The denomination 20 EURO, the place name LAURIACUM, and the date 2012 are inscribed in the lower portion of the field, all within a beaded border. |
