Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bilingual extract from Finland's Declaration of Independence, rendered in incuse capital lettering across the full face of the coin. The upper portion presents the Finnish text in progressively larger letterforms, followed by the Swedish translation in the lower half, creating a typographically dynamic composition. No effigy, border ornamentation, or exergual elements are present; the design relies solely on the bold, modernist arrangement of the inscribed text. The graduated scaling of the lettering, designed by Ilkka Suppanen, conveys a sense of proclamation and civic gravity appropriate to the centennial commemoration.

Obverse lettering SUOMEN KANSAN ON ASTUTTAVA MUIDEN MAAILMAN KANSOJEN RINNALLE ITSENÄISENÄ KANSAKUNTANA. FINLANDS FOLK BÖR TRÄDA I LEDET BLAND VÄRLDENS ÖVRIGA FOLK SOM EN OAVHÄNGIG NATION.
(Translation: The people of Finland must stand alongside other peoples of the world as an independent nation)
Reverse description The reverse depicts a detailed architectural rendering of the Heimola Building, a celebrated Art Nouveau structure that formerly stood at Yliopistokatu 5 (the end of Kluuvikatu) in Helsinki. The building's ornate façade, characteristic of Finnish Jugendstil architecture, is portrayed with fine relief detail occupying the central field. The engraver's initial 'S' appears above the design, while the mint mark of the Mint of Finland (Suomen Rahapaja) is positioned at the base. Surrounding legends in Finnish and Swedish identify the issuing country, the commemorated event, the date of independence, and the face value.
