Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Emperor Valentinian I in high relief, diademed with a beaded crown, occupying the central and right portion of the field. Behind the emperor's effigy, an engraved panoramic view of the Roman frontier settlement of Brigantium (modern Bregenz) is depicted, showing fortified buildings and a hillside landscape rendered in fine detail. The emperor's hands are shown clasped in the lower field, conveying authority and ceremonial dignity. The circular legend along the upper arc reads REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH, while BRIGANTIUM and the date 2012 appear in the central field; the lower arc bears the denomination 20 EURO and the name VALENTINIAN I. The entire design is framed by a beaded border.
