| 背面描述 | The reverse features the common European Union design for the 20 euro cent denomination, designed by Luc Luycx. A stylised map of Europe is depicted in the central field, rendered with fine lines representing the continent's geography against a lined background, with the European Union member states highlighted. The denomination numeral 20 appears prominently to the left, with the inscription EURO CENT completing the value legend to the right. Twelve stars of the European Union border the design along the upper and lower periphery, and the designer's initials LL appear within the field. |

Cyprus joined the eurozone on 1 January 2008, replacing the pound after a fixed conversion rate of 0.585274 pounds per euro was locked in 2007. The island's entry came less than a year before the global financial crisis, and the subsequent decade brought a sovereign debt crisis severe enough that in 2013 Cyprus became the first eurozone country to impose a bail-in on bank depositors — accounts above €100,000 at Laiki Bank were effectively wiped out. Coins from the early years of this series circulated through that entire collapse.
