| Obverse description | Facing bust of Ioannis Kapodistrias, first Governor of Greece, rendered in a neoclassical style with fine engraving detail, occupying the left-centre of the field. The denomination '20' appears prominently to the right of the portrait, with the Greek legend 'ΛΕΠΤΑ' (Lepta) inscribed below it. The inscription 'Ι. ΚΑΠΟΔΙΣΤΡΙΑΣ' curves along the lower portion of the field beneath the bust, flanked by the engravers' initials 'ΓΣ' at lower right. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolising the European Union, are arranged around the scalloped inner border, with the year of issue '2002' positioned at the lower left. A small mint flower mark appears to the left of the portrait. |

| Reverse description | The first-series common reverse design by Luc Luycx features a relief map of the European Union as it appeared prior to the 2004 enlargement, occupying the left portion of the field against a background of horizontal lines. Twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union encircle the upper-left segment of the design along the scalloped inner border. The large numeral '20' dominates the right half of the field in bold relief. The denomination legend 'EURO CENT' is inscribed in two lines beneath the numeral at the lower right, with the designer's initials 'LL' incuse on the map. The overall composition is clean and geometric, characteristic of the euro coinage common reverse series. |
