A vignette portrait of the ancient Greek philosopher Democritos appears at left, with the denomination numeral and two facsimile signatures at centre; a relief vignette of soldiers and horses occupies the right portion of the note. The date of issue, 1 March 1955, is inscribed in Greek alongside the issuing authority name.
