The shield is flanked by decorative foliage, with a banner below reading REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA. The date 1997 appears on either side of the shield. The outer legend reads REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA above, and ONE OUNCE 20 DOLLARS FINE SILVER below, all surrounded by a beaded border.
